User Access Control

Control access to finances, hours and organization data. Different levels of user permissions based on departments, offices, companies, projects, clients, employees and roles
Metric.ai gives the opportunity to share access to your data with any user. But you might want to limit some users' access to particular data of your consulting firm.

With other services, you might see access management as a very complex interface, but not in Metric.ai, where all access settings are on one page with three basic sections:
After all take a look at user permissions examples.
There are three user groups to define overall permissions to the app:
  • Administrators are able to see and control everything in Metric.ai
  • Managers cannot invite and manage other users of Metric.ai but are able to do everything else as Administrators
  • Viewers have only read access to the data and are not able to change any settings

In the permissions section of the user editing screen, you are able to control access to general types of data:
  • View organization option gives access to the main dashboard of a company
  • View finances checkbox grants access to financial metrics across a company
  • View hours option allows to see time metrics
If none of these options are selected, a user will get access only to metrics about employees.

Segmentation specific control

This is the most flexible and powerful part of the permissions control inside Metric.ai. By default, you have these predefined levels of access segmentation:
  • Departments
  • Offices
  • Companies
  • Projects
  • Clients
  • Employees
  • Roles
For each data group (segment) you are able to choose one of these options:
  • The "All" option selected gives access to all of that segment data
  • The "Based on other" option limits the access to the segment by selection made in other segments
  • The "Selected" option gives the ability to select one or many objects inside that segment. For example, particular clients or exact projects.
  • The "None" option blocks access to the data of that segment

Account manager

The account manager would need all information related to his clients. To address that, we would select his clients and for all other options pick "based on other".

Project lead

The project lead would need access to his projects except finances. Departments, employees and roles should be available based on those projects. We would disable access to clients, companies and offices.

Access for a client

Some agencies want to be transparent with clients on hours, especially on time and material projects. In that case we could give the Viewer permission with access to hours for projects of that client with detalization by roles.

Marketing department director in US office

All traditional cases can be covered by Metric.ai's access control settings.
Let's set up access rights for a marketing director who works on internal projects for the agency and does not need metrics for the production office, but only for projects related to marketing. We will place him in a management group with access to finances and hours.
We want the director to be able to see all levels of granularity for his department and offices in US.
